7th September 2014 09.00 to 19.00
On the first Sunday in September the Plaisance Shooting Club opened its doors once again for its popular annual Open Day.
As in previous years visitors were able to explore the stand and its facilities at their leisure. On arrival they were treated to an open air demonstration of archery. Inside on the 10 metre stand visitors could try air pistol and air rifle and on the 25, 50 and 100 metre stands there were demonstrations in pistol and rifle shooting as well as tuition and training on all stands so visitors could experience a wide variety of shooting sports for themselves (many for the first time) in a safe and secure environment.
There was also an exhibition of WW1 artefacts and historical objects to mark the 1914 First World War centenary presented by two re-enactors dressed in period uniform.
For many visitors the highlight of the day was the now traditional spit-roast pork lunch which well over 100 people sat down to enjoy!
